THE BUS!
Several
years ago, the London Transit Authority had a problem. Buses were going right past passengers who
were waiting at designated places to be picked up. They were at the bus stops and the buses were
sailing right past them. The London
Transit Authority released a statement to explain their actions. The statement said it was impossible for them
to maintain schedules if they always had to stop and pick up passengers.
Communication in our day is almost instantaneous. We can converse with spaceships on the moon at the press of a button. Christopher Columbus took three months to cross the Atlantic. We now can make the same trip in three hours.
Life
moves fast. People seldom take time to
slow down for anything, especially each other.
Some, who commute by automobile, fire handguns at others who themselves
speed past cutting them off in traffic.
Computers allow instant talk in impersonal chat rooms, and electronic
mail that doesn't require a two-day delay being delivered.
It
is amazing how lonely we've become as a nation.
Flying past each other in a hurry.
Writing or calling and communicating in many ways, but seldom stopping
to actually look at someone face to face and take time for mutual sharing.
The
Church must "STOP THE BUS" and let people on. If anyone should hone the art of
conversation, it should be those whose lives have been affected by the
"Master Listener." His ears were so sensitive;
He could hear the cry of a man's heart.
He always made time to "STOP THE BUS" when someone called out
to Him. He invited people into His
life. Everyone He heard cry out was
welcomed aboard-even the Judases. But,
Jesus never turned anyone away.
I
encourage you to "STOP THE BUS."
This is the mission of the Church.
Slow down and give others an opportunity to share in the joy of
salvation God has given to you. Allow
them entry into your life by way of conversation and fellowship. YOU'LL BE
AMAZED AT HOW MANY PASSENGERS WILL BOARD YOUR BUS ON THE WAY TO HEAVEN!!
Prov. 11:30
“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls
is wise.”
